On August 20, the delivery ceremony for Yunyao Aerospace’s first independently designed commercial satellite in Tianjin was successfully held at the company’s Tianjin headquarters. Themed “Tianjin Enterprise Collaboration | Building the ‘Tianjin Chain’ for the Commercial Satellite Manufacturing Industry,” the event brought together numerous partners across Tianjin’s commercial satellite manufacturing industry chain, as well as representatives of entrepreneurs from the Tianjin Young Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce, to witness this milestone moment.
Liu Songtao, Chairman of ATOMROBOT, was invited to attend the delivery ceremony, witnessing the milestone of the first domestic innovation integrating a self-developed commercial satellite with an embodied intelligent robotic arm.
The satellite delivered this time is Yunyao Aerospace’s first commercial small satellite to be fully independently designed and developed under its overall responsibility. The satellite has completed final assembly and integration, as well as a full suite of environmental tests and other ground development procedures, and is now officially ready for transportation to the launch site.
This milestone marks a key breakthrough for Yunyao Aerospace in independently designing a complete commercial meteorological satellite in Tianjin from 0 to 1, laying a solid foundation for future constellation deployment and large-scale industrial applications.

Two “Firsts” Mark Major Breakthroughs
Embodied Intelligent Robotic Arm Embarks on Its Commercial Space Journey
The satellite combines practical value with technological innovation, featuring two major highlights that have attracted particular attention.
First, the satellite is equipped for the first time with Yunyao Aerospace’s independently developed GNSS radio occultation and ocean reflectometry integrated payload, achieving deep integration of radio occultation and ocean reflectometry detection technologies.
The payload integrates a GNSS receiver, occultation antennas, reflection antennas, and positioning antennas. Through a high-density internal integrated layout and multi-signal collaborative processing algorithms, it can simultaneously capture high-elevation GNSS navigation signals, low-elevation atmospheric and ionospheric occultation signals, and ocean and land surface reflection signals.
The system can obtain multi-layer observation data covering the atmosphere, ionosphere, ocean, and land, enabling high-precision detection of various environmental parameters, including atmospheric temperature, humidity and pressure; ionospheric electron density and total electron content; sea surface wind speed; significant wave height; sea ice concentration; and soil moisture.
These data products can be widely applied across diverse scenarios, including refined meteorological data assimilation and forecasting, weather navigation for ocean-going shipping, routine monitoring of marine ecological environments, and natural disaster early warning and mitigation.

Second, the satellite achieves the first innovative integration of a commercial satellite with an embodied intelligent robotic arm, carrying ATOMROBOT’s embodied intelligent space robotic arm, along with experimental verification equipment such as a self-imaging camera and display.
After the satellite enters orbit, it will conduct in-orbit verification of key space robotic arm technologies. Equipped cameras will provide continuous observation of the robotic arm’s operating status and capture images in orbit. Performance tests will be conducted under real space conditions, generating valuable in-orbit test data for the iterative optimization and engineering implementation of space manipulation technologies, while also exploring new technological pathways for future in-orbit satellite servicing and intelligent maintenance.
The embodied intelligent space robotic arm was developed on the basis of ATOMROBOT’s mature high-speed robotics technology platform and has undergone specialized adaptations for the extreme conditions of space.
More details regarding the payload hardware design and motion performance will be unveiled in subsequent reports related to the launch.

Tianjin Enterprise Collaboration and Innovation
Embodied Intelligent Robotic Arms Break Application Boundaries and Open a New Paradigm for Commercial Satellites
The successful development of a satellite relies on collaborative efforts across the entire industry chain. The delivery ceremony featured a joint signing and witnessing session, with several Tianjin-based companies, including Tianjin Chenxing Technology Co., Ltd., CECTN Blue Sky Technology Co., Ltd., Huaxin (Tianjin) Technology Development Co., Ltd., and Tianjin Xunlian Technology Co., Ltd., participating in the initiative.
Through collaboration in core component supply, joint technical development, and system-level integration, these companies are helping establish the innovation and supply chains of commercial satellite manufacturing locally in Tianjin, contributing to the high-quality development of the region’s aerospace industry.
As a Tianjin-based company deeply engaged in manufacturing automation and intelligent technologies, ATOMROBOT has accumulated foundational technologies for multi-degree-of-freedom rigid robotic arms through applications across industrial scenarios such as food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, automotive components, and new energy lithium batteries and photovoltaics.
The company is actively exploring the cross-domain adaptation of embodied intelligent equipment for commercial satellite applications. The collaboration with Yunyao Aerospace represents an important practical application of transferring mature embodied intelligent robotic arm technologies from ground-based industrial scenarios to the space environment.
Rather than developing a dedicated aerospace mechanism entirely from scratch, conducting in-orbit verification through integration with a mature commercial satellite platform enables efficient performance evaluation under extreme space conditions, providing a cost-effective pathway for the technological iteration of domestically developed satellite-mounted actuators.

At the ceremony, Liu Songtao, Chairman of ATOMROBOT, shared his views on the project and the industry’s development. He noted that he and Feng Hui, General Manager of Yunyao Aerospace, are both alumni of Tianjin University, and this shared university connection helped foster this meaningful cross-industry collaboration.
The first embodied intelligent robotic arm developed by ATOMROBOT is now being carried aboard Yunyao Aerospace’s first self-developed satellite. This represents ATOMROBOT’s first venture into space robotics, as well as an important achievement resulting from the collaboration between two Tianjin-based commercial aerospace companies.
Liu Songtao stated that developing a space robotic arm involves multiple technical challenges, including microgravity, high reliability, and lightweight design. The two teams worked closely together, repeatedly iterating their solutions and overcoming numerous technical difficulties to complete the adaptation, integration, and testing of the robotic arm with the satellite platform—transforming laboratory technology into a real payload about to embark on its journey into space.
“Going alone may take you farther faster, but going together takes you farther.” The commercial aerospace industry depends on collaboration across the industrial chain. The shared commitment of university alumni and coordinated efforts among enterprises are also a vivid reflection of Tianjin’s innovation capabilities.
He expressed his hope that the robotic arm will successfully complete its in-orbit verification after reaching space and generate valuable practical data for the development of space manipulation technologies.

Reaching for the Stars and Beyond
A Promising Future for Earth-Space Integrated Innovation
With the satellite having completed all ground development procedures, the satellite carrying ATOMROBOT’s embodied intelligent robotic arm will be transported to the launch site as scheduled and launched at an appropriate time.
For ATOMROBOT, leaving the factory together with the satellite is only the beginning of Earth-space integrated innovation.
Going forward, the company will continue to explore the cross-industry application potential of embodied intelligent robotic arms, leveraging motion control technologies and highly reliable mechanism development capabilities accumulated through ground-based automation for specialized operating conditions and space equipment development.
ATOMROBOT will continue working closely with partners across the commercial aerospace industry chain to jointly explore cutting-edge applications such as on-orbit satellite inspection and in-orbit operations, helping bring high-end domestically developed embodied intelligent equipment into the vastness of space.
At the same time, ATOMROBOT will continue to take root in Tianjin and actively participate in the development of the local industrial ecosystem, enabling more emerging industries through automation technologies and working together with partners across different fields toward the vast opportunities of commercial aerospace.
