On March 10, the 2026 Technology Conference of Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA) was held. Around 100 participants attended the event, including leaders from the TEDA Party Committee and Administrative Committee, representatives from the Top 30 technology innovation enterprises, universities, research institutes, and media organizations. As a representative of regional technology innovators, Liu Songtao, Founder and Chairman of ATOMROBOT, was invited to deliver a keynote presentation.
In his speech, Liu systematically explained the technological evolution of humanoid robots. He noted that humanoid robots are emerging as the next generation of general-purpose technology products following computers, smartphones, and new energy vehicles. Their technological architecture can be divided into three key layers: perception, decision-making, and execution. The perception layer integrates multimodal sensing technologies, the decision layer leverages large-scale models to drive task planning, and the execution layer relies on motion control systems to perform specific operations.
The transition from simulation to real-world deployment remains widely recognized as a major bottleneck for industrialization. Liu explained that Atomrobot collects real-world behavioral data through VR teleoperation and motion-capture-based remote operation, while also building highly realistic simulation environments using rendering and physics engines. By adopting a training strategy of 10% real-world data combined with 90% simulation data, the company effectively controls costs while narrowing the gap between simulation and real-world performance.

Addresses Industrial Application Challenges
When discussing the real-world performance of humanoid robots in industrial production, Liu summarized the current challenges as three limitations: “can’t hold steadily,” “can’t operate precisely,” and “can’t perform reliably.” These reflect insufficient payload capacity, inadequate sensing and operational precision, and weak adaptability to complex industrial scenarios.
The design of Tianbing-01 directly addresses these challenges. Its parallel waist mechanism provides multi-degree-of-freedom support for the upper body, significantly improving load-bearing capacity. The 7-degree-of-freedom force-controlled anthropomorphic robotic arms offer tactile sensing and can accommodate a wide range of end-effectors. Meanwhile, the omnidirectional mobile base balances endurance and mobility, enabling rapid transitions between work scenarios.
According to Liu, the design philosophy behind the product focuses on practical value in industrial environments, emphasizing that technological innovation must ultimately answer a fundamental question: whether it can effectively solve real problems.
Application Scenarios: Multi-Station Collaboration and Flexible Manufacturing
During the presentation, Liu illustrated potential application scenarios for Tianbing-01 through real industry discussions and project cases.
In discrete manufacturing sectors such as automotive parts, Tianbing-01 can move between different workstations—such as machining, assembly, and inspection—to complete multi-process tasks. Some companies are currently evaluating whether a single unit could replace three fixed workstations.
In electronics assembly, its force-sensing capability allows precise handling of small components. A manufacturer of acoustic components has already begun testing prototype units.
For small-batch, multi-product production environments, Tianbing-01 can quickly adapt to different products by replacing end-effectors and loading new programs. In human-robot collaboration scenarios, the robot handles the majority of physical tasks while workers provide guidance and positioning, helping free personnel from repetitive and labor-intensive work.
Regional Strategy: Advancing Localization from Tianjin
As a Tianjin-based enterprise, Liu expressed his gratitude for the long-term support provided by TEDA and revealed the company’s strategic direction during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
Leveraging the industrial advantages of the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area, Atomrobot will focus on the development and industrialization of three key technology areas:
Intelligent cleaning robots、Space robotics、Fully force-controlled humanoid robotic arms
Liu also emphasized that during the “15th Five-Year Plan” period the company aims to achieve localization of key components while building a collaborative intelligent manufacturing ecosystem across the upstream and downstream industrial chain in Tianjin.
“Thanks to the trust and collaboration of our industry partners,” Liu said. “Atomrobot will continue to stay technology-driven and grounded in practical innovation, working together with industry peers to achieve shared growth through reliable products and services.”
The Tianbing-01 humanoid dual-arm robot is now open for industrial scenario testing and collaboration, primarily targeting manufacturing enterprises, system integrators, and research institutions.
